Devon boasts more than its share of attractions and the landscape is exceptional – there are five Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, hundreds of Sites of Specific Scientific and large swathes of moorland. Dartmoor National Park lies within the county as does a third of Exmoor, and the National Trust manages many sites.
It can also claim part of two World Heritage Sites – The Jurassic Coast and the Cornwall & West Devon Mining Landscape. And it has a north and south coast, with the latter, The English Riviera, always popular.
