Recently refurbished to a very high standard, the Cottage manages to be spacious while retaining a cosy and comforting atmosphere. A grandfather clock welcomes guests into the entrance hall, which flows to the right into the large sitting room with a wood burner at its heart, surrounded by three luxurious sofas – plenty of room for everyone to relax. Double doors lead to an ample terrace equipped with a barbecue, dining table and chairs. Passpawt loves the space and location of this dog-friendly cottage.
Separated from the lounge by charming wooden beams is the dining area, where a large table comfortably seats eight – a great space for big family suppers and your best friends to beg at! The dining area leads to a spacious, light, and airy kitchen decorated in a modern country style, which boasts a double oven and island bar for social breakfasts. Store all your coats, walking boots, dog leads and beach gear in the utility room next door – and if you forget your four-legged friend’s food bowls, there are plenty of spares in the cupboard.
As with many owners, they would like owners to dry down and remove any sand before diving back through the front door! Pets are very welcome at "The Cottage", but the owners do ask that you keep them off beds wherever possible.
There are abundant beaches around Holcombe and the south coast of Devon.
Holcombe Beach is a short walk from the village of Holcombe, accessed down a steep road called Smugglers Lane, which is also accessible by car.
The Coastal Route to Teignmouth and then Shaldon. This is by far the most obvious and enjoyable for dogs that love the beach. The map route should take 1-2 hours, depending on ball chases, swimming, and the ferry!
The walk is ideal for getting seafront coffee or beer in Teignmouth and then on to Shaldon across the oldest continually operating ferry in the UK. It's a small boat, however! Shaldon has two beaches, the estuary fronting one and the Ness, which has a "smugglers tunnel" to access it. The Ness also has a great pub called "The Ness", which is dog friendly!
If you want to head off in Dartmoor direction, then "Parke, Bovey Tracey" may be a good choice if you like or are a member of the National Trust. Parke features lovely walks around the grounds and woodlands of the grand country Parke House. There are many different types of walks to choose from; you can go through the woodlands, are along the streams. Dogs are welcome on the grounds of the house but are asked to be kept on a lead where stock is grazing. There are also animals across the grounds.

Website: THE FAIRY DOG MOTHER FIELDS- for the nearest isolated dog walking field for that problem friend.
Two Paddocks, set in a beautiful valley with views across to Dartmoor, where the only noise comes from the Buzzards and other birds flying overhead. It is stunning! The owner completely understands the need for a secure field as it allows her three rescue dogs (all of whom lived miserable lives with Hunters) and Day Care dogs to live their best lives, running freely and looking for rabbits with no worries about putting them in situations they would find scary or wondering if they will ever come back.
